achieving immortality

i heard someone say that a person can achieve immortality in 3 ways: 1 writing a poem or a story. 2 planting a tree. 3 and having a daughter or a son. if my published essays count then i have achieved it. i have some unpublished poems too. and if that still doesn't count, i have an idea or two for a good story. so maybe it's not a sure qualifier yet. and number 3 is definitely 'going to be in the works' very soon. and it's put under 'very pressing priority'. let me insert a smiley here. and if i may add, teaching also gives one a shot at immortality. in the book 'tuesdays with morrie' it is written, a teacher affects eternity for one does not know where his influence ends, or something to that effect. i have dipped my hands into teaching or more like my entire being. and i sure hope i left some positive influence there. but the second is happening in a very exciting manner. sometime in 2004, a jackfruit vendor would always pass my client's office and everytime i almost never failed to buy. it being my favorite fruit, i would always take note of those exceptionally sweet and bring home the seeds. home then was wowo and duda's house in consolacion. then i would bury those seeds on the patch of earth on the side of the front yard hoping that they would sprout. and indeed, they did. that already left me amazed at that time. seeds do actually grow! then those seedlings grew some more and were big enough to be moved to a more permanent place. and then the years passed. we moved to the city but would still visit consolacion on sundays. and then i heared the most amazing news. the jackfruit i planted was starting to bear fruits. i ate, i planted the seeds and saw it grow! how quickly time flies and how amazing to take a bit part of creation by planting a tree! i did not only plant a tree but i also have a good chance of eating its fruit. i'm looking forward to saying: i ate, i planted and i have enjoyed its sweet fruits.

a vision

my humble 2mp phone cam could not capture it. and i start out at a loss for words if i am made to describe it. i've never seen anything like it. gray clouds lined with silver and on what seemed like a cleavage peeked a slice of a rainbow - hesitant in its appearance but with colors so bold. an awesome contrast to the almost blinding silver lining of the clouds. early in the day something marvelous happened which catalyzed a series of anticipated but unexpected unfoldings. who would have though it will climax with such a vision.
